Right now, school officials still hope to open Callaway on time Tuesday, but that depends on how quickly cleanup crews can get rid of the mold.  Read full story...

San Benito schools’ mold lawsuit settled
-
September 2, 2004

By Pallavi Agarwal, The Valley Morning Star

SAN BENITO, Texas — Three years after two San Benito campuses were rid of mold, the company that installed the school district’s heating and cooling systems has agreed to pay the school district $15 million.

Honeywell International Inc.’s $15 million settlement falls short of the $180 million in damages and attorney fees that the school district was seeking in a lawsuit that was headed to trial this week.

But School Board President Oscar De La Fuente, Jr., said that the settlement would cover a $7 million loan to pay for the mold remediation and save the district legal fees from a prolonged lawsuit.

The money will also cover $729,000 the district has paid in interest on the two-year-old loan, and attorney fees whose percentage is still being worked out, schools interim superintendent Antonio Limon said. Read full story...

How Long Will My PCI Distance Training Take Me To Complete?

The answer is distance training from the Professional Certification Institute. Working around your current schedule and commitments, you can start and finish one to three PCI certification courses simultaneously in approximately 60 to 100 hours of intensive home study at your own schedule and pace. Read the very thorough mold training course content and the environmental hygiene course contentAfter you have completed your training and certification via home study, the written essay exam test questions will be emailed to you after you inform PCI that you are ready to take the certification test(s) for Certified Mold Inspector, Certified Mold Remediator, and Certified Environmental Hygienist.

The Professional Certification Institute distance learning program provides you with complete, practical, state-of-the-art, ONLINE training plus extensive offline resources (sent to you by email attachments) for in depth mold training and environmental hygienist education and training so that you can earn a high income as a self-employed environmental professional. A Certified Mold Inspector concentrates his or her inspection and testing of a home or other building on discovering and documenting mold infestation, including mold growth hidden INSIDE ceilings, walls, floors, crawl spaces, attics, basements, and heating/cooling ducts and equipment. A Certified Mold Remediator removes mold infestations from homes and other buildings safely and effectively. Please read the mold training course content.

A Certified Environmental Hygienist investigates a home or building for mold plus many other environmental health risks such as microbiological contamination. Read the Hygienist Course Curriculum.

Students master their environmental educational courses by online and computer-based study in the two password-protected websites: Mold Knowledge (mold inspection, testing, remediation, and prevention), Environmental Hygienist, plus the five PCI mold training ebooks written by mold expert Phillip Fry. “It is my pleasure to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful job you did during the seminars on mold inspection and remediation. The way you conduct your lecture and presentation is a real art and each word (e.g., contract, inspect, look, test, contain, kill, remove, protect, prevent) and printed handout is a lecture by itself. I have no doubt that you have opened a new era for me in the mold testing field.”--- Saifeldin El-Nagerabi, Ph.D in mycology (science of mold) and a professor of mycology at a Canadian University. Dr. El-Nagerabi, now a Certified Mold Inspector, attended Mr. Fry’s 2 day mold seminar in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, June 16-17, 2007. Read more Student Testimonials.

Visit Website Advertising for full details. For more info, please email Mold Instructor.

Where Can I Use My Professional Designation Certifications?

Read about the Big Shortage of Canadian Environmental Workers. The Certified Mold Inspector and Certified Mold Remediator professional designation certifications can be used anywhere in the world except the State of Texas, wherein you would need to attend a Texas-licensed mold training school that is physically located in Texas. Because PCI teaches only online and is not located physically in Texas, PCI cannot provide you with mold professional certifications for use in Texas.

The Certified Environmental Hygienist professional designation certification can be used anywhere in the world, including Texas, but you would need to have a Texas Department of Health license to do mold inspection, mold testing, and mold remediation in Texas.

Please note that you will need to obtain a city or state/provincial business license in most cities in the USA, Canada, and elsewhere in the world to do any kind of business activity including mold inspection, mold testing, mold remediation, and environmental hygiene. If your business will be home-based (and if local zoning does not permit home-based businesses), you may need to rent a private, local business mail box street address from a company like Mail Boxes Etc. to obtain your local business license, or operate your business in an owned or rented business property.

If your business activities will include any structural work or repairs (such as plumbing repairs after you locate a water leak), you will probably need to obtain the appropriate contractor license or work in conjunction with licensed professionals such as a plumber or construction contractor. For contractor licensing requirements, check with your local or state building department, contractor licensing agency, or building inspector.

The Wall Street Journal [Aug., 2002] article reported the mold inspector and mold remediator profession as one of the hot job opportunities in today's tight job market. The Journal reported: "An instructor at the Certified Mold Inspectors and Contractors Institute [now known as Professional Certification Institute], says that opportunities for 'certified mold inspectors' and 'certified mold remediators' are 'steadily growing' across the country. Inspectors can earn as much as $100,000 annually while remediators who rip out mold- infested areas can take home much more." R
